In this month of October, marked by efforts to support the fight against breast cancer, what could be more fitting than putting women’s soccer in the spotlight? Thus, this Saturday, October 17, a gala evening will kick off the sporting festivities on the new field at Saint-Jean Stadium. On the program is a match between the women’s teams from Saint Barth and Saint Martin. “It’s a gathering of women for a game,” explains Aurélie Soucy of the Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee, which is organizing the event alongside the Territorial Soccer Committee. “The goal is to give them a chance to play, since there’s no league, and to promote the development of women’s soccer in Saint Barthélemy,” adds Aurélie Soucy. Titled the “Pinky Cup IDN,” the match is scheduled to begin around 7 p.m. But another match will kick off the event.
In fact, as a prelude, a match will take place at 5 p.m. between the under-15 teams of Juventus de Saint-Martin and Ajoe Football.
A great end to a day of sports and community spirit is in store.
On October 31, the Saint-Jean stadium will host another soccer event featuring a match between a Saint-Barthélemy all-star team and another all-star team whose origin has not yet been revealed.
