Swimming - Lukas Outil's achievement

Twenty-one kilometers, six hours, forty-eight minutes, and fifteen seconds. That's the distance and time it took Lukas Outil on Sunday, February 8, to swim around the island of Saint Barthélemy. The island athlete achieved this feat quietly, claiming it was his "biggest personal challenge."
"Having grown up in a sporting environment, I have always been attracted to pushing myself to the limit," explains Lukas Outil. "That's why I chose this challenge, which is as physical as it is mental." The swimmer entered the water at dawn (5:10 a.m.) at his starting point, which would also be his finish line: Grands Galets beach, or Shell Beach, in Gustavia.
During his tour of the island, Lukas Outil was surrounded by a whole team who followed him throughout his performance to provide him with food, push him, and encourage him. His supporters followed him by boat, canoe, and even by swimming! "Special mention goes to Joris Bouchaut, who swam with me for 4 hours and 11 minutes during the most important and difficult parts of the journey," says Lukas, who confides, "There were moments of doubt, mental struggle, and fatigue, and then this arrival, filled with emotion, gratitude, and pride." " The swimmer dedicates his achievement to Saint Barthélemy. "It's a tribute to this wonderful island," he says. "A personal accomplishment and a real push beyond my limits. " On March 10, 2025, another swimmer took up the challenge of swimming around the island. Over a slightly longer distance (28 kilometers), Alexis Wozniak swam for 9 hours and 19 minutes to complete the tour of Saint Barthélemy.
