François Doré took second place in the Elite category at the second edition of the International Motocross and Quad Grand Prix of the Departmental Council of Guadeloupe and the town of Lamentin, held on the Merlande circuit this Sunday. Despite winning the previous edition, he was beaten this time by the reigning European champion Charles Lefrançois, who, incidentally, is none other than his brother-in-law! François thus finished on the second step of the podium in a very competitive competition, bringing together more than 50 riders from 10 different countries. The 2022 French Motocross Champion is nevertheless very satisfied with his performance: "With my brother-in-law, who races on the professional circuit, on the starting grid, I knew it wouldn't be easy to win again this year on the Merlande circuit." I managed to finish second, along with Americans, Italians, and Canadians who were there to win... plus, I was riding a new bike that wasn't mine, and I didn't have much time to master it, so it's a good result!" A resident of Saint-Barthélemy, François Doré can't train for his favorite discipline on the island due to the lack of a suitable circuit. Therefore, he takes advantage of his trips to Saint-Martin or other departments to "keep his hand in": "I never ride in Saint-Barth, and so sometimes it's difficult to keep up with the other competitors... Luckily, I'm sometimes lent a bike in Saint-Martin, so I go there to train, that's cool!" » The next step for the Breton, now adopted by Saint Barth, is the Super Cross Indoor Championship in Canada in two weeks, where he'll be on the starting grid for the 250cc class alongside his European champion brother-in-law, Charles Lefrançois, who will be competing in the 450cc class. Both riders are certainly hoping to once again reach the top steps of the podium, as they did last weekend in Lamentin.
