Marvin Febrissy, looking out to sea

From regatta to regatta, Marvin Febrissy's appetite is growing. A resident of the Pôle Espoir in La Rochelle since the start of the school year, the teenager has two major objectives for the 2025/2026 season: to obtain his baccalaureate (mathematics, physics-chemistry) in order to switch to a university course, but also and above all to continue progressing at the helm of his Ilca 7 in order to improve his performance. "Joining the Pôle Espoir in an ILCA 7 once again implies major adjustments for me, but my motivation is still there to do my best in this new challenge", assures Marvin, who is not losing sight of his "ultimate goal": ocean racing. But not only that. "Why not hope to take part in the next edition of the Transat Paprec? "The young sailor's ambition goes hand in hand with his determination to succeed. For proof, just look at his results over the past season.
In 2024/2025, Marvin Febrissy left the Ilca 4 in the hangar to move on to the 6. This required a little technical and physical adaptation," he says. But I still managed to play in the leading groups in some regattas. "The competitions organized by the leagues enabled him to get to grips with his new boat. "And even to qualify for the French championship," stresses Marvin, who also refers to "a few regattas at national level" (summer internationals and Europa Cup), which enabled him to situate himself "in relation to the other French competitors".
While he thanks the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy and the private sponsors who have supported him for the past three years and who are renewing their support for this new season, Marvin Febrissy knows that he will have to rise to a number of challenges to achieve his goals. The first will certainly be to manage to combine the demands of practising a discipline at a high level with his studies and all his ancillary activities. Having finished 15th (out of 60 participants) in the French championship in August, the future bachelor still has miles to go before looking further out to sea. Nevertheless, his passion, combined with his desires, could well lead him to the helm of a Figaro in the next few years.
