Lorenzo Mayer Wins Gold at the Mediterranean Games!

He had promised to “give it his all for Saint-Barthélemy.” Lorenzo Mayer kept his word. On Wednesday, September 2, in Taranto, Italy, the Saint-Barth Yacht Club member won the gold medal in the Ilca 7 dinghy event at the 20th Mediterranean Games. It was a competition the champion dominated from start to finish. After two initial races to find his rhythm (finishing 20th and then 7th), Lorenzo Mayer took control. He went on to win four of the next nine races, cementing his dominance in the 7th, 8th, and 9th races. In the overall standings, he finished ahead of Greece’s Marios Stathas and Italy’s Cesare Barabino.
