The Pelicans under the influence of a former international

Four-time French champion, winner of the Korác Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup, seven-time top scorer in the Pro A… Such is, in part, Hugues Occansey's list of achievements. On Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30, it was under his direction that the young members of the Pelican's club had the privilege of participating in a training camp in Saint-Barthélemy. A player for CSP Limoges in the 1980s, Hugues Occansey was then one of the key players in the great Antibes team, French champion in 1991. Since March, the former international (83 appearances for the French team) has joined the Territorial Committee of the Northern Islands as a technician. For his first visit to Saint-Barth, he observed the players in the categories ranging from under 11 to under 15, as well as their coaches. Because the camp had two objectives, as the president of the Pelicans, Pascal Peuchot, explains: "It aimed both to offer training sessions for the Saint-Barth executives, with the preparation of training sessions and debriefs, and to train the children. It was a great success, as much for the children as for the coaches." An event that also benefited Simon Malbranche, one of the club's executives currently in distance learning at the Tony Parker Academy to obtain his BPJEPS (Professional Certificate in Youth, Popular Education and Sport). Beyond the theory, he will travel to Lyon three times to complete his training. With the support of the club. "He is our future technical director," assures Pascal Peuchot.
