Young sailors shine in Sint Maarten

Whatever the waters, the young sailors of the Saint Barth Yacht Club sail in search of victory. But also, and above all, with the desire to perfect their learning in mind. During the first weekend of competition of the year, Cindy Brin's students participated in the Grant Thornton Multiclass Regatta organized by the Sint Maarten Yacht Club. "In difficult conditions, our young sailors gave their best to proudly represent the Club and Saint Barth," says Cindy Brin.
Aboard their Optimists, the SBYC representatives didn't hold back. Of the top eight places in the rankings, only one escaped them! Tao Carmona Bouvrais emerged victorious, winning five of the eight races. He was followed by Stanley Haes, Lourenzo Couto Jorge, and Lewis Maxor. Behind them, Léo Favreau, Ethan Blanchet, and Nathanael Basset took 6th, 7th, and 8th place, respectively. Axel Vanden Eynde finished 12th.
In the "green fleet" category, also on Optimists, Louisa Vanden Eynde was the only representative from Saint Barth. This adversity did not impress Louisa, as she took the victory.
Maximilian Gréaux, meanwhile, was competing for the first time on an Ilca 6. It was a rather successful debut, as the young sailor managed to climb to 5th place in a ranking that included twenty participants.
"Sailing in 20 to 35 knots means pushing yourself, staying focused, and never giving up," said Cindy Brin. "The SBYC can be proud of its next generation."
