Students from Gustavia Win the Rotary Ti Quizz

A joyful commotion. On June 12, 90 fifth-grade students from schools across the island gathered in the La Capricieuse room at the harbor master’s office to participate in the Rotary Club’s Ti Quizz. An annual event “dedicated to reading and sharing,” as the Rotary Club emphasizes. The 2026 edition of the Ti Quizz sparked enthusiasm among the students similar to that of previous years. “Amid answers flying from all directions, bursts of joy, and encouragement from classmates, the room echoed with the happy shouts of these 90 passionate and motivated children,” the Rotary Club notes. “It was a true moment of camaraderie and sharing that perfectly illustrates the goal of this initiative: to encourage a love of reading while having fun.”
The students of Anne-Sophie and Noémie from the Gustavia school complex emerged victorious. They finished ahead of their classmates from Lorient, while those from Colombier brought up the rear. But what matters most is not so much the result as the experience and the moment shared by all the children.
This year, the Rotary Club of Saint-Barthélemy presented the students with two literary classics: “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” by Jules Verne and “Gulliver’s Travels” by Jonathan Swift. In class, the children studied these books throughout the year before coming to take on the Ti Quizz challenge.

Axelle Cappelli Serves Another Year
As president of the Rotary Club of Saint-Barthélemy, Axelle Cappelli will continue her mission for another year. “After a first year full of encounters, projects, initiatives, and above all, wonderful shared moments, I am happy to continue this adventure surrounded by a wonderful team and, above all, friends,” she wrote on the club’s Facebook page. The president thanks all Rotary members for their trust, energy, and good humor, and doesn’t forget the spouses “who are part of the adventure even if they haven’t always signed on to all our ideas,” she jokes.
