No fewer than 135 competitors battled it out on various platforms (Optimist, ILCA, Bic 293, Windfoil) during the 34th Schoelcher Nautical Week (February 14-17). Among the various delegations that made the trip (Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts, Antigua, the Netherlands Antilles, Saint Martin, Guadeloupe), Saint Barthélemy's delegation included ten young sailors from the Saint Barth Yacht Club, competing in Optimist and Ilca6 classes.
In the Optimist class, out of 49 participants and after 13 races, the young sailors from the SBYC distinguished themselves. In the minime category, Tao Carmona Bouvrais finished in an impressive 4th place, ranking 2nd nationally out of 304 minimes. He was followed by Lourenço Rolo Couto Jorge (5th and 3rd nationally). Stanley Haes came in 7th, Lewis Maxor 10th, Léo Favreau 16th, and Nathanael Basset 23rd.
In the youngest category, Ethan Blanchet and Axel Vanden Eynde finished in 3rd and 4th place respectively. The only girl in the delegation, Louisa Vanden Eynde, took the top step of the podium in her category.
The only Saint-Barth competitor registered in Ilca6, Maximilian Gréaux, ranked 8th overall out of 16 participants after 12 races.
