Saint-Barth's youngsters do well at the Romans-sur-Isère world championship

In Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme), the World Youth Championship brought together hundreds of youngsters from Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Algeria, Madagascar and Belgium between August 15 and 18. Not forgetting the French teams! Among these delegations were representatives of the Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin agreement. Ethan Aubin, Etienne le Gac and Gabriel Corbion for the Saint-Barth minimes and Simon Corbion for the cadets. Saint-Martin was represented by Lucas Daviaud in the minime category and Célian Daviaud in the cadet category. A young competitor from Guadeloupe, Louis Lefebvre, was also included in this selection.
Thursday was marked by head-to-head opposition. "Unfortunately, none of our youngsters managed to qualify in the first 32 places, which gave access to the elimination phases of tables A and B", lamented Emilie Aubin, who was part of the coaching team for the young champions. There were 74 participants in the minimes category and 98 in the cadet boys category.
Although the entente's youngsters didn't shine in the doublettes, they made up for it in the triplettes on Saturday. Simon, Louis and Célian made it all the way to the semi-finals, where they lost. For Gabriel, Lucas and Clément, the competition came to an end in the quarter-finals. As for Ethan, Etienne and their partner Timéo, they lost to a strong team, the Marseillaise and French champions, in the round of 16.
A fine showing in a highly competitive event, which should motivate the island's young talents to perfect their skills over the coming season on the Amicale bouliste's Saint-Jean playground.
