Golf - Sint Maarten wins the first Saint-Barth Cup

The Saint-Barth Golf Club's first Saint-Barth Cup was a success. It brought together 42 players on the Mullet Bay course in Sint Maarten on Saturday December 6. The players came from Saint-Martin, Sint Maarten and Saint-Barth, as those from Anguilla were unable to attend the event. While the atmosphere was as friendly as it was competitive, success did not smile on the island's players. Unless - and this is not to be ruled out - the players from the Saint-Barth selection chose, out of elegance, not to concede victory to their comrades and neighbors. In any case, it was the Sint Maarten selection who came out on top in this first edition of the Saint-Barth Cup. Les Tamarins de Saint-Martin slipped into second place, with the representatives of Saint-Barth Golf Club bringing up the rear. "A lot of very close games were played to within a putter stroke of each other, but our hosts quickly gained a clear advantage in the final round. But our hosts quickly gained a clear advantage to win this first challenge and pocket the trophy for this inaugural edition," sums up Laurent Cathelot, one of the founding members of the SBGC. The trophy in question will be up for grabs again next year, with, the organizers hope, the participation of Anguilla. "The Saint-Barth Golf Club has twelve months to strengthen its workforce and its game in order to bring the trophy back to the pebble," says Laurent Cathelot.
In its first Cup, Saint-Barth was represented by fourteen players: Marc Grenouilleau, Bruno Sanchez, Alan Jaouen, Laurent Giraud, Maxime Chevreul, Jean-Paul Chevreul, Thierry Costa, Paul Roblin, Oliver Bruss, Antoine Lattuca, Hugo Grossard and Laurent Cathelot.
