After years of stumbling blocks and continuous efforts, the team of the Comité territorial de soccer de Saint Barthélemy, newly elected last March, has succeeded in achieving an essential goal: official recognition by the French Football Federation. "This recognition would not have been possible without the hard work and determination of president Gery Seinturier, vice-president Ruben Fernandes Martins and general secretary Alexandre Gumbs," stresses the Committee office, adding: "Their unwavering commitment made it possible to overcome the obstacles that had been blocking this project for several years. "
To achieve this, numerous actions were undertaken, including telephone appointments, e-mail exchanges and meetings at the "FFF" headquarters last May. These sustained efforts have made it possible to establish solid communication and strengthen the relationship between the FFF and the CTFSBH," assures the Committee. Today, understanding between the two entities is at an all-time high. "
Board resignation
"However, after a general assessment of the aspirations and needs expressed by the island's various soccer clubs, we have taken an important collegial decision," writes the Committee in a press release. Thus, the mission to which its current members were committed: the recognition and autonomy of the Committee. Consequently, in the same press release, the board members announce their resignation from their current positions. "This well-considered decision is also guided by the desire to allow new energies to pursue these efforts within French soccer", it adds.
