Soccer - The Cup is full for FC Arawak

Since the 2024/2025 championship wasn't enough for them, the FC Arawak players added the Coupe de Saint-Barthélemy to their seasonal harvest. On Saturday May 10, on the turf of the Saint-Jean stadium, the players coached by Paul Janvier dominated their Diables rouges opponents by five goals to two (5-2). These same Diables had managed to snatch the Christmas Cup at the end of the year. As far as I'm concerned, it was the most coherent final given the season achieved by both clubs,” says Paul Janvier. We knew it wasn't going to be easy, as the Diables Rouges really wanted to finish their season as well as possible and put the championship behind them. Indeed, the match was no walk in the park.

During a physically demanding half, both teams managed to surprise the opposing defence. After 45 minutes of play, the Arawaks and Red Devils went into the locker room level at 2-2. I don't think we were at our best in terms of impact and discipline,” says Paul Janvier. We were too far away and out of sync with the game. When we had the ball, we were pretty good in certain phases of the game, but it wasn't enough to take the lead.” What's more, tempers flared just before half-time. I knew it was the only way we'd lose the game if we got into this situation,” remarks the Arawaks coach. So at half-time, we redoubled our efforts.
