Soccer – Who will win the championship?

The Red Devils or the Arawaks? This Saturday evening, the sixth and final matchday of the Saint-Barthélemy soccer championship will determine which of the two teams will claim the 2026 championship title. Following an opening match between ASPSB (3rd with 3 points) and AS Gustavia (4th with zero points) at 7 p.m., the two title contenders will face off on the field at Saint-Jean Stadium at 9 p.m. for a showdown at the top.

In the first leg on April 11, FC Diables Rouges managed to defeat FC Arawak in a spectacular, high-scoring match (4-3). After five matchdays, the Diables have as many wins as matches played (5), fifteen points, and a goal difference of +11 (16 goals scored, 5 conceded). The Arawaks are hot on their heels with four wins and just one loss, 12 points, and the same goal difference: +11 (20 goals scored, 9 conceded). In short, it all comes down to one match!

To retain their championship title, the FC Arawaks players must win. Ideally by a two-goal margin. As for the “Rougets,” who already won the Cup in February, they’re aiming for the double. To do so, a draw will suffice. But they’ll have to contain the Arawaks’ offensive fury. No easy feat as the season winds down!
