Fitness - Double podium for Les Phenix tandem at the Hyrox Challenge FWI in Le Moule

Saturday evening in Le Moule saw the second night-time edition of the Hyrox Challenge FWI. Hailing from Saint-Barthélemy, Élise Howard and Coralie Thomas, under the Les Phénix banner, won the duo challenge, while Coralie Thomas came second in the individual competition.
As a reminder, the Hyrox is a timed sporting challenge featuring 8 physical events interspersed with kilometers of running. A discipline that combines power and endurance. In the midst of 80 competitors, the island's only two representatives hit the ground running. For their first competition together, the chemistry between the two Saint Barth athletes was perfect.
"Between us, we had secretly set ourselves the goal of a podium finish. In the end, as a duo, we finished first in our +16 category. We're very proud of our pairing, which represents a revenge on life for us! "Coralie Thomas concurs. The two girls from Saint-Barthélemy successfully completed 8 workshops and as many kilometers of running. "It was the 1st time I'd taken part in this kind of competition, because as a rugby player with the Rascasses de Saint Barth, it was basically just a challenge. But my partner and I got hooked, and calling our tandem Les Phénix, for this kind of discipline where you have to surpass yourself, fits in well with the identity we want to project. It proves that we can rise from the ashes and go further together," declares Élise Howard with a cheerful air.
Coralie Thomas repeated the feat in her solo race, taking second place on the podium this time - a fine performance all the same: "Of course, second place overall is a great achievement. It spurs me on to push my limits and do even better next time. Personally, I was looking for a new sporting challenge that would take me beyond my limits... and I got it! [laughs]"
After this first successful challenge, the Howard-Thomas duo, alias Les Phénix, are already looking ahead to future events such as the Gustavialoppet Wind Race on November 9, the Hyrox in Las Vegas and other triathlon and swimrun competitions. The two Saint-Barths are hoping that last weekend's successes will be the first of many.
