The 12th edition of the Curacao Marathon took place on November 28 and 29. 111 runners lined up on the starting line, including a representative of 4 Running Saint-Barth, Vincent Gaffiot. After Aruba, Miami, Rhodes, Chamonix, Nancy, New York and before Sint Maarten, the runner took third place in his over-60s category, flying the island's colors.
The picturesque course took runners along Curaçao's waterfront, past the "swinging old lady", the iconic Queen Emma floating bridge, and the Queen Juliana Bridge. Like all Caribbean marathons, we set off early (03:15) to take advantage of the relative coolness," says Vincent. The aim is to resist cooking after sunrise. "
The athlete covered the 42.195-kilometer marathon in 4h 32'13". A very enjoyable race on a pleasant course, despite the height difference of the Queen Juliana Bridge, which had to be climbed twice," describes Vincent. The climb was offset by the superb view over Willemstad. The icing on the cake for my 40th marathon was a 3rd place, a fine bronze medal in my category. "A performance that does not exclude the pleasure that is the watchword, along with conviviality, of 4 Running Saint-Barth.
