Multi-athlete Élise Howard also contributed in her own way to the Pink October breast cancer screening awareness campaign. To do so, she ran non-stop around the island of Saint-Barthélemy on Sunday November 2. A way for Élise Howard to combine a useful and symbolic action with a fight that concerns all women in our society.
It's a project that has matured and been put together in just a fortnight. Élise Howard decided to set herself a challenge: to run non-stop around Saint Barthélémy, all for the worthy cause of Pink October. A real tour de force in itself, in support of the Ligue contre le Cancer Guadeloupe (Guadeloupe Cancer League), for a circumnavigation of over thirty kilometers completed in 4 hours and 11 minutes! A challenge that no woman had ever met on Saint Barth before. Only Simon Chuinard had done so, last March, in aid of the Handi-Relais association. Elise Howard completed a "non stop run" loop starting from Lorient.
"It was the middle of the course that was the most intense, because that's where I had the most difference in altitude, and it was hard on the calves! But at the finish it was a waaaah! I did it! "summed up the veteran of rugby fields and Hyrox contests. "I had the help of my team-mates from the Rascasses team, our rugby team, who accompanied me for several kilometers on the course. "Above all, I'm very proud to have run for women's health. I'm very happy and lucky to have had my friends, who took turns around me like a real team, and who provided non-stop water refreshments! And above all, I was heartened by the response," declares the happy sportswoman. Even though the Pink October mobilization is just over, in just a few days, Elise's initiative generated over 1,000 euros in donations for the Ligue contre le cancer Guadeloupe.
