Bodyboarding: Athanaë Blanchard makes her junior debut in Morocco

On the first weekend of February, Athanaë Blanchard took part in her first major competition in the "junior pro" bodyboarding category. It was in Agadir at the World Bodyboard. And for his first, the resident of the Pôle Aquitaine and member of the Ajoe Reefer Surf Club was convincing. Athanaë made it all the way to the quarter-finals, where he lost to Moroccan Soulhail Tarfaoui. "My competition went very well, because I went there with the aim of just getting through the first round, and in the end, it was all a bonus", confided the 15-year-old teenager, who attends the Lycée André Malraux in Biarritz, to JSB. "I was really surprised, because I wasn't expecting such a high level," says Athanaë, whose journey ended in the quarter-finals. "I'd say the conditions were better and I was a bit unlucky towards the end of the series when the Moroccan passed me," he regrets. A small disappointment which in no way dampens his enthusiasm, as he has clear ambitions for this 2025 season. I'm aiming for the Guadeloupe championship and at least one podium finish in the French championship," says the teenager. But also to achieve good results on the French and world tours. "With this encouraging first outing, there's no reason not to believe in his lucky star.
