Bodyboard - Athanäé Blanchard qualifies for the season's Grand Final

At his first major competition in the "junior pro" category of the international bodyboarding circuit, last February in Morocco, Athanäé Blanchard reached the quarter-finals. Since then, the teenager has continued to shine throughout the season. So much so, in fact, that he has qualified for the "Grand Final" of the International Bodyboarding Corporation (IBC) junior circuit!

From October 11 to 25, the resident of the Pôle Aquitaine and still a member of the Ajoe Reefer Surf Club will be taking part in the season's big final competition, the Gran Canaria Fronton King, in Spain.

After five competitions in Morocco, Chile, Australia and Spain, Athanäé Blanchard is in fifth place, tied on points (3,660) with Spain's Mauro Quesada and Morocco's Younes Elgharbaoui and Adam El Moutaouaki.

The "Grand Final" field features 48 qualifiers, including 8 from France. Athanäé Blanchard is the second-highest-ranked player behind Louka Zaninotto, who is also the highest-ranked with 6,000 points. He is also second in Europe, tied with Spain's Mauro Quesada.
