Beach Tennis: Saint Barth Shines in Saint Martin

The sand in Saint-Martin seems to suit the beach tennis players from Saint Barth quite well. Over the weekend of June 13 and 14, Friendly Caribbean Beach Tennis hosted its ninth and tenth sanctioned tournaments of the year at the Beach Garden in Colombier. Nearly sixty players competed in the BT500 men’s and women’s doubles events, while the BT250 mixed doubles drew about fifty competitors, all from various clubs in the Northern Islands. Notably from Karibbean Beach Tennis (KBT) and the Ouanalao Beach Club (OBC). The Saint-Barth contingent made a strong impression, particularly in the women’s division. In fact, Julie Labrit and Sophie Jean-Jean of KBT emerged victorious in the final against… Mariangela Dalla Loga and Laurarose Kurschat of OBC. What a performance!
In the men’s division, the KBT representatives had a more modest showing, as Cédric Mangeant and Gérald Dibon fell just short of the podium (4th). However, Laurent Delaval (OBC) won the tournament partnered with a player from Saint Martin (Steven Reiller of FCBT), while Alexis Lambert (OBC) took third place alongside Olivier Benedetti (FCBT).
In mixed doubles, Laurent Delaval won again, this time with Charlotte Claudel of TCISM. As for Sophie Jean-Jean and Lionel Delafosse, they secured third place on the podium for KBT.
