Beach tennis: the young guard from the Caribbean battles it out in Saint-Jean

On Saturday, February 28, Karibbean Beach Tennis brought together its young players on the courts of the Saint-Jean playground. Players competed in a tournament for under-10s and under-12s, as well as another for under-14s. Unfortunately, due to a lack of registrations, it was not possible to hold a competition for under-sixteens. This was a slight disappointment for president Julie Labrit, who was quickly consoled by the "very high standard" of the matches played by her charges.
With their feet in the sand, under the sun and accompanied by music, no fewer than 34 matches were played. "All the children played four matches," said Julie Labrit. In the under-10 and under-12 categories, the duo of Charlie Guif and Thomas Mangeant came out on top. In the older age group (under 14s), Gabin Creze and Joao Mendes Carvalho took the victory. It was a wonderful day of camaraderie but also fierce competition. Proof of this was the drama of defeat, which sometimes brought tears to the eyes, quickly dried, however, by the miracle of hugs and consolation from teammates.
