For the second year running, the under-15 team from Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin finished third in the GuyMarGua tournament. A fine performance, given the quality of the opposition, which ended yesterday, Sunday April 13, with a victory over Guyana (63-51) to climb onto the podium.
What's more, the selection, which included three representatives from Saint-Barth (Antonin Peuchot, Sayan Cagan Arnaud and Matis Nicolas), showed that its level was approaching that of the two West Indian ogres. Indeed, after an initial victory over Guyana (71-70), the Iles du Nord U15s managed to maintain a respectable lead over Guadeloupe (59-72) and Martinique (41-52).
In addition, Matis Nicolas proved to be a mainstay of the team, playing almost every game and scoring 15 points per game. This performance earned him the Fair Play award, which, at GuyMarGua, is considered the tournament's runner-up.
