The42nd edition of the Music Festival continues this Monday with a concert for children. A performance of Hans Christian Andersen's tale "The Nightingale and the Emperor of China" will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Catholic church in Gustavia. With the collaboration of Alecia Lawyer, the tale has been adapted and set to music by Kevin Lau.
"The Nightingale and the Emperor of China" is a tale of love and friendship that tells the story of a spoiled emperor who falls in love with the song of a nightingale. When the emperor is given a mechanical bird, he abandons the real bird, which returns home. However, the emperor is ultimately saved from death by the nightingale, who comes to his rescue by charming Death with its song.
"This tale also teaches us that we cannot appropriate the talents of others," summarize the festival organizers.
To enchant the audience, Kobi Malkin will be on violin, Alec Manasse on clarinet, Nathaniel Lanassa on piano, and Blanche as narrator.
A contribution will be requested from spectators.
