The weather forecast for yesterday, Thursday, was frankly pessimistic, but the organizers of the 16th edition of the St.Barth Cata Cup were nevertheless ready to give the start at the slightest breath of air. As a result, they didn't miss the day's only small window of opportunity, enabling the 53 competing crews to complete their first regatta between Saint-Jean Bay and Roche Le Boeuf. It was a particularly tactical leg, which the favourites did not miss. As proof, it was the Spaniards Pablo Völker and Federico Polimeni (Saint-Barth Assurances) who came out on top. However, the reigning Formula 18 world champions had their backs to the wall. Put under pressure in the final lengths by Belgians Patrick Demesmaeker and Olivier Gagliani (Les Perles de St-Barth), they won by a whisker!
This Friday, the races promise to be particularly hotly contested! Let's hope the wind holds out. The race is due to start at 9:30 a.m. from Saint-Jean beach, where the StBarth Cata Cup village is located.
