An operation to check on foreign nationals

On Monday, October 5, and Tuesday, October 6, officials from the UTESI (Unit for the Processing of Undocumented Foreigners) of the Border Police, part of the National Police’s Territorial Directorate, were deployed to Saint-Barthélemy. Conducted in collaboration with the local police, the gendarmerie, and the prefecture, the operation consisted of a series of identity checks—about thirty, according to a police statement—in several areas of the island. A foreign national in an irregular situation was apprehended and placed in administrative detention.
