Saint-Barth -

A Red Cross prevention team is on stand-by

On January 15, the Red Cross launched a new multidisciplinary mobile prevention and support service on Saint-Barthélemy. Every two weeks, a team of professionals from Saint-Martin's medical and social establishments spends two days on the island, working mornings and afternoons as outreach workers. The aim is to help meet the health and social needs of young people and people in precarious or isolated situations.

This Wednesday, January 29, the team will be visiting some of the island's neighborhoods from 4 to 9 p.m., and tomorrow, Thursday the 30th, they will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Centre médico-social in Gustavia.

A team of professionals from Saint-Martin's Red Cross establishments (such as a social worker, a doctor, a nurse and a specialized educator) will be on hand to help. These professionals offer social support for administrative assistance, access to rights and emergencies, psycho-educational support for young people and consultations on addictions, sexual health and screening open to all. The Red Cross points out that this service was set up at the request of the local authorities.

For further information, there are two telephone numbers. 0690527299 for social assistance questions and 0690649279 for young people.
