One seriously injured in a road accident

Two cars collided head-on on the night of Saturday 4th to Sunday 5th October, in Saint-Jean. The accident occurred on the lane running alongside the pond, shortly after 3am. Alerted, the Service territorial d'incendie et de secours (Stis) responded to the scene within minutes of the violent collision between the two cars. Two ambulances and an extrication vehicle from the Stis were dispatched to the scene, with support from the gendarmerie and, of course, a team from the Smur (Structure mobile d'urgence et de réanimation).
Two men, aged 25 and 26 and living on the island, were injured in the accident, according to the gendarmerie. One of the victims, who was seriously injured but not life-threatening, had to be transported to Guadeloupe at first light.One of the victims, who was seriously injured but not life-threatening, had to be transported to Guadeloupe in the early hours of Sunday morning, after being treated at the Irénée de Bruyn hospital. The other was hospitalized in Gustavia.
It took Stis three hours to rescue the victims. Ten firefighters from Saint-Barth took part in the operation.
On Saturday October 4, the Stis teams were not idle, as they went out for ten rescues. These were supplemented by six additional outings on Sunday morning. On Sunday and Monday, no fewer than four medical evacuations were recorded.
