The alarm was raised early this morning, Saturday, May 2. It was just before 8 a.m. when firefighters from the Saint-Barthélemy Fire Department left the Saint-Jean fire station to respond to a call in the Flamands neighborhood. At a house construction site, two people have fallen into a cistern. One is unconscious, the other has suffered an ankle injury. Fortunately, this is only a drill! But it is carried out smoothly by the twelve firefighters involved in the training operation. Eight firefighters respond, supported by two specialists from the Rescue, Support, and Search Unit (Usar), while two other firefighters play the role of the victims. The victims are efficiently extracted from the cistern by the rescue team. Much faster than expected, as the exercise ends about an hour before the originally scheduled time. Much to the satisfaction of the mobilized teams who worked, in uniform, under sweltering heat.
