After months in dry dock in Saint-Martin for repairs, Captain Danet, the launch of the Saint-Barth station of the Société nationale de sauvetage en mer Barthélémy, has returned to the port of Gustavia. The small team of volunteers set to work to welcome her to her usual place, next to the Quai d'Honneur in Gustavia.
In Saint-Martin, the old sea bass has been given a facelift. This involved mechanical work and a complete paint job. "The boat is more beautiful than ever", says a delighted SNSM.
On Thursday August 8, a small team of volunteers was busy on the harbor to welcome her to her usual place, next to the Quai d'Honneur in Gustavia. "New fenders have been installed, and a brand new flag flies in the wind at the end of the quay," comments the SNSM. Once moored, Captain Danet was given a thorough cleaning. "It took a lot of money to get the boat back afloat, but the result is there," says the SNSM, whosesome of our volunteers have left the island, while others are on vacation.
Nevertheless, with the return of an operational launch, the Saint-Barthélemy station intends to continue recruiting and training volunteers. So that we can rebuild one or more solid crews," she explains. Thank you to all our financial and technical partners, to the community and to the volunteers for always being there to keep this beautiful and noble activity of sea rescue alive. "
