The Saint-Barthélemy Gendarmerie Brigade has welcomed two new recruits: two experienced gendarmes who are familiar with the French overseas territories, as well as Saint Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
Major Nicolas Marcheguay, 56, was stationed in Saint Martin from 2019 to 2023. He comes from the Versailles Criminal Investigation Division. He has worked for 24 years in the Gendarmerie’s criminal investigation units.
Joining him is Adjutant Hervé Dieval, who served in the Pas-de-Calais region before arriving in Saint Barth. He served as a mobile gendarme for twelve years, during which time he was stationed in New Caledonia, Guadeloupe, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali. Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy are no strangers to him, as he was stationed in Saint Martin from 2020 to 2023 and also came to provide reinforcement after Hurricane Irma struck in 2017.
The two soldiers assumed their duties under the authority of the brigade commander, Captain Quinchon, and the head of ComGend, Lieutenant Colonel Loyez.
