From this Monday morning until Friday (July 11), the Agence territoriale de santé (territorial health agency) has launched a new vector control campaign to follow up on the actions initiated last December, following the detection of a new mosquito in the area: the Aedes albopictus.
The ARS specifies that the actions carried out this week will concern the neighborhoods between Saint-Jean and Petit-Cul-de- Sac. "ARS agents will be carrying out enhanced surveillance by placing a large number of egg-laying traps, in order to monitor changes in the mosquito population", says the agency in a press release.
In addition, targeted anti-larval operations will be carried out using portable sprayers, enabling precise action to be taken in the worst-affected areas. These operations will take place in the early morning or late afternoon, when the mosquito is most active. "No special measures are required on the part of residents, apart from facilitating access to private areas likely to be affected by the operation", stresses the Regional Health Agency.
