On Thursday September 18, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again from 2 to 4 p.m., the Irénée de Bruyn hospital will welcome a doctor from Saint-Martin to carry out vaccinations. Diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, whooping cough, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, papilloma virus (HPV), measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), shingles, pneumococcus and meningococcus will be the vaccines available during this campaign. This mission of general interest is being undertaken by the Agence régionale de la santé (ARS), and will see a doctor and nurse from Saint-Martin return to the island to administer the vaccines. This was a regular occurrence prior to the Covid-19 health crisis. Eventually, the aim is for the healthcare establishment to have its own vaccination center.
For the record, at the beginning of the year, Dr Marianne Melki carried out a survey of the population of Saint-Barth to find out their perception of vaccination. The results of this study are due to be released shortly.
