The Fondation pour l'équipement médical d'urgence de Saint-Barthélemy (Fémur) has made a new donation to the Maison de la santé de Saint-Jean. The donation consists of two probes worth 11,260 euros. An abdominal probe, which will be used by all practitioners who need them, and a vaginal probe, which will be used mainly by Dr. Nathalie Lédée, who provides consultations for women seeking fertility assistance.
Last October, the Fémur and its president Ernest Brin pledged to provide the Maison de Santé with equipment through donations worth 100,000 euros. After an electrocardiogram and other machines essential to the specialists who see patients in consultation at the facility, the donation of the catheters has enabled the Femur to exceed the 90,000 euro donation threshold since the start of 2024. The message we can send out to the public is to continue to support Le Fémur with donations so that we can help the hospital and the Maison de la santé," insists Ernest Brin. Whatever the amount, it will be a precious help.
Since its creation in July 1983, the Fondation pour l'équipement médical d'urgence de Saint-Barthélemy has contributed to improving the quality of care on the island. Hundreds of thousands of euros and dollars have been raised to purchase equipment before donating it to the hospital, the Ehpad and, now, the Maison de la Santé.
Ophthalmological equipment donated to the Maison de la Santé
Ophthalmologist Dr Véronique Rident has donated her professional equipment to the Maison de la Santé in Saint-Jean. These top-quality machines will enable the Maison de la Santé coordinators to call on the services of specialists who will now have the equipment they need to see patients in consultation.
