A donation of €100,000 for the hospital

A check for €100,000 was presented to Éric Djamakorzian, director of the Irénée de Bruyn hospital center, on Monday, January 19. The donation came from entrepreneur David Barokas, owner of several restaurants on the island, including La Guérite. During the check presentation ceremony, which took place on the terrace of the Territorial Collectivity hotel, David Barokas explained that the donation was motivated by a desire to contribute to the development of the healthcare facility. He was, of course, warmly thanked for his gesture by the hospital director. "Although small in size, the hospital center has a great social responsibility and can count on highly committed teams," said a statement from the hospital. Emergency doctors are highly versatile and therefore need high-quality medical equipment. Thanks to this support, work and equipment improvements can be carried out, benefiting both patients and professionals."
David Barokas, who also owns the La Guérite restaurant in Cannes (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), presented a check for €200,000 to the local association La Sainte Famille last November to help finance a children's shelter. The daily newspaper Nice-Matin reports in an article that the funds were raised during a charity day organized at the restaurant on Sainte-Marguerite Island in August 2025.
