Saint-Barth - octobre rose

A l’occasion d’Octobre Rose, un arbre à cœurs a été installé dans le hall d’entrée du centre hospitalier. Le principe est simple : ­prenez un cœur en papier à l'accueil, écrivez-y un mot d'espoir, de soutien ou un souvenir, et accrochez-le à l'arbre. Ici, le directeur de l’établissement Éric Djamakorzian et son adjointe Alexandra Bernier montrent l’exemple.

Pink October: A Month of Action

The annual global awareness campaign dedicated to promoting breast cancer screening and raising funds for medical research will take place throughout the month of October. In Saint Barthélemy, several events are on the “schedule” for Pink October. At the same time, organizations, associations, and businesses on the island are showing their support for the campaign by displaying pink decorations or organizing internal activities.

A Fundraiser by Ouanala’Hospital
As the main organizer of Pink October on the island in 2025, the Ouanala’Hospital association will run a booth on Saturday, October 10, at the entrance to Super U in Saint-Jean. For hospital staff who are members of the association, the goal will be to raise funds by selling accessories and, of course, the famous pink ribbons that symbolize the event.

Beach Tennis Tournament
On the same day, as well as the day before—Friday, October 9—Karribean Beach Tennis is organizing a youth tournament and an official mixed adult tournament (BT500), with a portion of the proceeds (15 euros per registration) going toward breast cancer research.

Morning Fitness Challenge
On Sunday, October 11, the Territorial Union of Firefighters and the Saint-Barth Handisport association are hosting a fitness challenge at the Saint-Jean fire station. From 8 a.m. to noon, anyone interested in enjoying a friendly gathering while getting some healthy exercise and supporting a worthy cause can sign up. The fee is 10 euros.

Pétanque Tournament
On Friday, October 16, Saint-Barth Pétanque is organizing a tournament on the courts at the Saint-Jean playground. This tournament is open only to licensed players and association members, but all proceeds (a 25-euro entry fee per person) will be donated in full to the Octobre Rose association. For participants, the dress code is obvious: wear something pink.

A Pink Walk for the Cross du Vent
On Sunday, October 18, as part of the traditional Fête du Vent cross-country race in Lorient organized by Ajoe, a “Pink Walk” will be held. The walk will start at 5:45 a.m. in front of the Ajoe venue.

An informational session at the hospital
On October 19, World Breast Cancer Awareness Day, an event is scheduled at the Irénée de Bruyn Hospital. In the late afternoon, healthcare staff will welcome visitors at an information booth, where breast self-examination pads will be distributed.

The “Australian-Style” St. Barth Triathlon
Finally, on October 26, the Saint-Barth Triathlon will host its event titled “The Australian Way” as part of Pink October. The organization is partnering with the League Against Cancer, with 5 euros from each registration donated to support research.
