A photo competition to raise awareness of local wildlife

Heritage can take many forms. History, archaeology, music, but also the environment. The Youth Council's environment committee took advantage of the Heritage Day events on Saturday, September 21, to announce the results of its photo competition. The theme: local and coastal wildlife. After consultation, the three elected members of the committee voted for their favorite shots. We're proud to be able to do this," says Noémie, a member of the committee, "even young people can do extraordinary things. In making their choices, the children were guided by a number of criteria, such as choosing animals endemic to the island. "We were a bit strict," sums up Noémie. After deliberation by the voters, five winners were chosen. In the children's category, Quentin Louerat-Alexandre took 1st place and Lahna Sainte-Hélène Bellanger won the jury's special prize. In the adult category, Marine Bailly came third, Damien Poupin second and Nicolas Remi 1st. "I hope this can make people aware that we have a beautiful environment and that we need to protect it," reacted the winner on the forecourt of the Wall House.

Quentin Louerat-Alexandre wins the youth competition.

In the adult category, Nicolas Remi took 1st place on the podium.

Damien Poupin takes 2nd place in the adult category.

Marine Bailly's photograph took 3rd place.

The jury's special prize went to Lahna Sainte-Hélène Bellanger.
