The prefecture announced that Météo-France has decided to place Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy on a yellow alert this Saturday, August 29. “Former Tropical Storm Dolly will cause weather conditions to deteriorate over the next few hours,” according to an online statement. Rain, possible thunderstorms, and strong winds may occur in the coming hours. “The situation is expected to worsen overnight or on Sunday morning, likely leading to an upgrade to an orange alert,” the prefecture states in its post, adding: “Total rainfall of up to approximately 100 mm is expected over the course of the event. The currently dry ground may contribute to significant rainwater runoff, which could lead to localized flooding.” The swell is also expected to increase, with an estimated average height of between 2 and 2.5 meters. “The adverse conditions could persist throughout the weekend and all day Monday,” the prefecture emphasized.
