The islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy were placed under a yellow alert for "heavy rain and thunderstorms" late Saturday afternoon, April 4. Météo France stated in its 4:58 p.m. bulletin: "Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate over our islands this evening and overnight. Moderate to heavy showers will occur in the middle and latter part of the night. They will become increasingly frequent and may at times take on a thunderstorm character. Expected rainfall totals will be in the range of 40 to 60 mm over 3 hours or even less." According to the Météo France bulletin, "wet and unstable conditions, interspersed with periods of calm" are expected to persist tomorrow, Sunday, April 5, and continue through Monday morning.
