As a tropical wave approaches, the Northern Isles are under yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The bulletin issued by Météo France at 4.55 pm placed Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin under yellow vigilance for heavy rain and thunderstorms. This is due to tropical wave no. 20 passing close to the Northern Isles. Its effects are expected to be felt from 2 a.m. tonight and throughout tomorrow, Friday August 22.

Météo France is forecasting thundery showers, which could intensify at the end of the night and in the morning. "In three hours, rainfall totals will be in the order of 40 to 60 mm", warns Météo France in its bulletin.

The event is expected to end tomorrow, Friday, at around 5 p.m.
