Woman falls several meters in Gouverneur

A 26-year-old woman was involved in an accident yesterday, Sunday, February 22, in the middle of the afternoon. Shortly before 3 p.m., she fell several meters after slipping while walking with a group of friends on the Gouverneur ridges, near the cave. The Territorial Fire and Rescue Service teams were quickly mobilized. Twelve firefighters and four vehicles were dispatched to the scene, supported by a team from Smur and the gendarmerie. It took the rescue teams more than 45 minutes to reach the victim. However, it was necessary to call in the civil security helicopter, Dragon 971, to extract the young woman. She was winched into the helicopter before being transported to the Pointe-à-Pitre University Hospital. The young woman suffered several fractures, particularly to her ankles, and a head injury. Her life is not in danger. The rescue operation was completed at around 6:15 p.m.
