Four “individuals” between the ages of 15 and 21 were arrested on Tuesday, September 29, in Saint-Barthélemy as part of an operation conducted by the Saint Martin Anti-Narcotics Office (Ofast). Under the authority of the Basse-Terre District Attorney’s Office and with the assistance of the intervention platoon from the Mont-de-Marsan Mobile Gendarmerie Squadron as well as the Saint Martin Customs Coast Guard, the operation was launched at 6 a.m. “It mobilized significant human and logistical resources,” according to a press release from the gendarmerie command. The statement added: “In total, five individuals were implicated in this case. During operations carried out in Saint-Barthélemy, four young people aged 15 to 21 were arrested.”
Following their detention, the two main suspects were summoned to appear before the Saint Martin branch court.
