Scooter thieves brought to justice

Over the weekend of September 20 to 22, several vehicles were stolen on the island. A motorcycle was involved, found completely burnt out in Flamands. Five scooters were also stolen over the weekend, four of which were returned to their owners, while the last ended up on the pebbles of Toiny beach. The perpetrators of these thefts didn't get very far, as two of them were arrested in Saint-Barth, and the third in Saint-Martin. After being held in police custody, the three defendants were heard today, Wednesday October 2, at an immediate appearance at the Saint-Martin local court. All three were born on Saint-Martin, and are aged 24, 22 and 18. They were charged with the following offences: "Destruction of another's property by a means dangerous to persons", "theft aggravated by two circumstances", and for two of them, "unauthorized possession of narcotics". Following this immediate appearance, the trial was adjourned to November 6. The defendants are under judicial supervision until that date.
