The Territorial Environmental Agency reminds the public that shark fishing in the waters of Saint Barthélemy is strictly prohibited from May 1 through August 31. This period coincides with the breeding season for these species. The ATE emphasizes that certain shark species may not be caught at any time of year. These include the nurse shark, the lemon shark, the longfin mako, all hammerhead sharks, and the whale shark. Additionally, a fishing permit is required in Saint Barthélemy, except for shore angling. The permit is free and can be obtained from the Agency.
