ATE - Last newsletter before the anniversary

In just over a month, the Regional Environmental Agency will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Nicole Aussedat Nature Reserve. But first, as it does regularly, the Agency will publish its newsletter this Friday, September 4. This document summarizes the many initiatives carried out on the island to preserve the environment and biodiversity.

Overview of Commercial Fishing
In this newsletter, which will be available in its entirety on social media and on the Agency’s website (www.agenceterritorialedelenvironnement.fr), readers will find an article assessing fringing coral reefs, a brief update on the work of the four interns who were hosted at the ATE, an article on the safety of shearwaters, and another on a future platform designed to preserve native flora.
The ATE also presents the report on commercial fishing for the year 2025. It reveals that this sector accounted for nearly 150 metric tons of fish (and spiny lobsters) landed (57.5 metric tons of rockfish, 66.1 metric tons of pelagic fish, 20.1 metric tons of spiny lobsters…). The three most commonly caught species were dolphinfish (45.9 metric tons), spiny lobster (20.1 metric tons), and grouper (15.7 metric tons).
The Agency also presents the Fish Friender app, designed for recreational fishermen and intended to contribute to better resource management. An article is dedicated to the movements of young sharks in Saint Barthélemy, to terrestrial and marine educational areas, and more.
