In a joint press release, the Collectivité territoriale and EDF have announced the start of three major phases of work on Saint-Barthélemy between June 30 and August 30. The work is part of the project to modernize the island's electricity network, with the commissioning of the 6th Marigot high-voltage feeder. The new high-voltage feeder will enhance the reliability and robustness of the HV network, while rebalancing electrical loads between existing feeders to avoid overloads," the press release states. It will also help to ensure optimum continuity of service, including during maintenance operations or in the event of an incident, and contribute to the long-term quality of electricity supply throughout the country. "
The three phases of work will be as follows. The first will take place from June 30 to July 12, near the Villa Créole roundabout in Saint-Jean. The second, from July 28 to August 9, will take place near the EDF "Stade Saint-Jean" transformer substation, located in the parking lot of the shooting range, as well as in front of the EDF "Le Bon Coin" transformer substation, close to the second floor of the Stade Saint-Jean shopping center.Le Bon Coin" substation near the second Lorient cemetery, and in the Camaruche sector near the "4 Vents" crossroads towards Marigot. Finally, the third phase, from August 18 to 30, in the Saint-Jean sector towards Saline, at the crossroads giving access to the Les Terrasses de Saint-Jean residence (at the top of the hill).
EDF specifies that the work will not result in any power cuts. "This historic project is part of a sustainable approach aimed at adapting the network to the current and future needs of Saint-Barthélemy", assures the Collectivité in its press release.
