A cake was created especially for the occasion. On Thursday October 19, EDF's Saint-Barth branch installed the island's last digital meter. This operation began four and a half years ago, in May 2019. Since then, the island's technicians have removed all the old meters on Saint-Barth and replaced them with digital meters. "It's a fabulous tool," says Hervé Le Trionnaire, head of the Saint-Barthélemy branch. This new generation of meters enables EDF agents to manage each household's electricity consumption remotely. Thanks to this system, it is possible to take out a subscription remotely, without the need for a technician to visit. "Bills are also more accurate, because they are no longer based on estimated consumption, but on actual consumption", describes Hervé Le Trionnaire. In the event of production problems, EDF can also limit power to all customers at the same time, thus avoiding load shedding. According to Hervé Le Trionnaire, Saint-Barthélemy is the only territory to have 100% digital meters, with a total of 7,099. To celebrate the end of this long mission, EDF technicians gathered around a cake in the shape of a digital meter with the inscription: "ça, c'est fait! "
