Since Tuesday morning, October 20, EDF has been implementing rotating power outages across all sectors of the island. This is due to the shutdown of the two main generators at the Public power plant. As previously announced in the JSB, the G8 generation unit is undergoing maintenance for just over three more weeks. At the same time, an alert regarding the G7 unit forced the power plant’s technical teams to shut it down in order to inspect and repair the damage. For now, electricity generation therefore relies on the oldest small units and external modular generators. To ensure uninterrupted production, EDF management has been forced to implement load shedding. EDF announced on Tuesday that these outages could last until mid-November.
Below is the schedule for rotating power cuts from 9:00 p.m. this Tuesday until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, organized by sector and time slot, subject to changes by EDF.
