EDF warns of a "risk of power cuts" in the evening

A press release published online by EDF Archipel Guadeloupe warns of a “risk of load shedding” in the evening in Saint-Barthélemy. Temporary power outages could occur across the entire island due to work on the G7 generator, which is causing “strain on the power grid.”

“Businesses were notified first and have already taken steps to reduce their consumption,” says EDF, which reminds the public of “a few simple steps to take” to reduce energy consumption: turn off devices on standby, limit the use of “energy-intensive” equipment, set the air conditioning to a “moderate” level and avoid leaving it running in unoccupied rooms, and reduce lighting to what is strictly necessary.

In the event of a power outage, it is recommended to unplug sensitive devices, keep refrigerators and freezers closed, and limit the use of phones.
