While traffic at Saint-Barthélemy airport has been brisk since the beginning of the year, data from the port of Gustavia show that it is still the main gateway to the island.2025, data from the port of Gustavia show that it is still the main gateway to the island.
As every year, the intensity of activity at the beginning of the year has followed the evolution of the tourist season. As a result, the high January, February and March visitor numbers gradually declined until September. This is reflected in the number of ferry calls. 540 in January, 449 in February, 588 in March, 411 again in April, before declining in May (372), June (332), rising slightly in July (361), before falling again in August (318) and September (224).
The same applies to the number of passengers disembarking and embarking on ferries. From January to September inclusive, 128,858 people arrived in Saint-Barth on vessels operated by companies operating inter-island routes. Over the same period, 128,419 passengers left Saint-Barth on ferries. Arrival and departure peaks were obviously in January (23,365 arrivals, 22,616 departures) and March (24,445 arrivals, 24,172 departures). February was also a busy month, with 19,131 arrivals and 18,541 departures, before traffic stabilized at between 14,000 and 10,000 arrivals and departures until August. September saw the usual drop (5,201 arrivals and 4,670 departures).
In 2025, cruise activity was mainly concentrated between January and the end of April, with 150 calls to Saint-Barth (51 in January, 38 in February, 47 in March and 14 in April). 31,708 passengers disembarked on the island, while 31,676 boarded cruise ships.
From January to the end of September, yachting activity naturally accounted for a large share of port traffic. Once again, January and March were very busy months. 697 entries (4,304 crews + 2,206 passengers) for 953 departures (6,648 crews + 3,896 passengers) were recorded in January by port management. 869 entries (4,409 crews + 2,341 passengers) and 879 exits (4,489 crews + 2,384 passengers) in March. In all, 3,594 ships have entered the port since the start of the year, and 4,015 have left. This represents 17,379 crews and 9,902 passengers for entries, and 20,366 crews and 11,682 passengers for exits.
These already impressive figures will be joined before the end of the year by those for the start of the tourist season. All these figures will undoubtedly confirm the port's status as Saint-Barthélemy's main tourist gateway.
