Cem continues its work on agricultural development

As part of the development of the Territorial Plan for Sustainable Agriculture (PTAD), Food and Fisheries in Saint-Barthélemy, the Chambre économique multiprofessionnelle (Cem) reports that it has "reached an important milestone". On Tuesday July 1, various players in the sector met at the Cem's offices to work on refining the twenty action sheets that make up the Strategic Action Plan. The aim was to gather the opinions and contributions of local players. The action sheets are the fruit of several months' work by the Salvaterra consultancy, commissioned by Cem and specializing in agriculture, the environment and territorial development. "After an in-depth diagnosis of the area (fieldwork and interviews), Salvaterra is now proposing a concrete strategy to support local, sustainable and resilient agriculture", emphasizes the Cem. Alice Rabine, an agricultural and environmental expert with the consultancy firm, led the workshop held on Tuesday, July 1. Some twenty participants took part in the discussions. "Thanks to their expertise and feedback, the action sheets will be enriched and better adapted to the realities on the ground", assures Cem. The next step will be to put the draft PTAD out to public consultation. Residents, farmers, fishermen, entrepreneurs and citizens will all be able to express their views and participate in the future of agriculture and food in Saint-Barthélemy.
